sorry it took a while to answer this! :D
But here we go… this is my perfect head canon.

I want a good story about Branson returning to Downton and stuck between the ‘upstairs/downstairs’ tensions. I imagine he’ll have friends and enemies in both but it’s interesting to see which he’ll feel more comfortable with.

Regarding the Irish War, his career as a journalist should definitely be utilised! But I don’t want him to join in on the violence. That doesn’t fit with his outlook in s1. I know he changed in s2, but I believe that was on account of his frustration with Sybil’s undecidedness. Now he has a wife and child I don’t believe he’d knowingly put them in danger.

Trying to further the cause as a writer would be the perfect position for him as the plot develops. He’d be putting himself at risk, something that would create tension with Sybil. And I think perhaps in the last few episodes he should be injured BUT NOT KILLED. I will never forgive Fellowes if he kills him agh.

Basically I understand that the story of the Branson’s won’t be all ‘hunky dory’. They should have struggles in their marriage but they will never forget that they love each other and eventually emerge triumphant. And their baby? I’m having way too many squees over baby Branson to think coherently, god.

I just want Branson to be the most doting father there is *___*
And I want the Bransons to establish a amicable relationship with the Crawleys and live forever without worry or care!
